powerLibraryMathDescription
Raises its input to a constant real exponent.
Example
Math functions Gain, absolute value, square root, sign, negation, and power of a sine; sine and cosine of time.
u = 2 sin(πt/2)Gain 0.5|u|√|u|sign(u)−uu²Timesin(t)cos(t)

Ports
Inputs 1
-
u
Base.
Outputs 1
-
y
Output signal, u raised to Exponent.
Parameters
-
Exponent
n2The exponent. Any real number; 2 squares the input, 0.5 takes the square root.
Equations
Modelica
y = u^n
Implementation
The block’s Modelica model
y = u^n;
Assumptions and limitations
- The result is undefined for a negative u with a non-integer n, and for u = 0 with a negative n; the simulation then fails. Unlike Sqrt, the input is not clipped.
