Description

Measures the absolute angular acceleration of the flange without loading it.

Example

Rotational drivetrain A torque step drives a motor inertia through a 2:1 gear and a shaft spring into a damped load, with every rotational sensor.

Ports

Outputs 1

  • αa

    Angular acceleration, in rad/s².

Conserving terminals 1

  • shaftflange

    Measured flange. No torque is exchanged.

Equations

Modelica
a = d²(flange.phi)/dt²
flange.tau = 0

Implementation

MSL documentation

Assumptions and limitations

  • The angle is differentiated twice, so the output jumps wherever the applied torque jumps.
